Ex-Nissan boss Ghosn to put up $4.5m bail for release from jail

<p>TOKYO, Japan - Despitre facing new charges former Nissan Chairman Carlos Ghosn is to be released from jail.</p><p>The Tokyo District Court court ordered the release on Wednesday after bail was set at &yen;500 million ($4.5million).</p><p>The 65-year old Ghosn was first arrested in November but was released from prison last month on $9 million bail. He was then arrested on a new charge and detained once more.</p><p>On Monday he was facing a raft of new charges, including one for aggravated breach of trust, aimed to keep him in prison. Specifically, he is accused of expropriating a Nissan subsidiary&rsquo;s payments to a distributor in Oman, according to The Japan Times. Prosecutors claim part of the money, about &yen;560 million, had been sent to Good Faith Investments, a Lebanese firm he effectively controlled, for his own interest.</p><p>While in court Ghosn&#39;s lawyers applied for their client to be released on bail. The application was granted on Wednesday. The former Nissan boss is likely to be released on Thursday.</p><p>The Japan Times, quoting legal experts, said rearresting an individual who had been released on bail was a highly unusual move.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>&nbsp;</p>
