Bank of America Corp Chief Executive Kenneth Lewis has said he will consider postponing his retirement.

According to the Wall Street Journal, he has reassured directors that they will be able to take their time in finding a successor.

Lewis had planned to leave the bank on December 31st, but it is known there has been some difficulty in finding a replacement.

He has said he would be willing to stay at the Charlotte, North Carolina-based bank while the names of various internal and external candidates are considered and vetted, acting as a bridge until a successor is found.
