Malaysian oil blocks to be explored

Two oil blocks off the coast of Borneo have been awared by the Malaysian state oil firm Petronas to a consortium of Canadian oil firm Talisman Energy and Petronas Carigali.

Talisman will have an interest in 70 percent of the blocks while Petronas Carigali will hold the rest.

The total investment to be commited for exploration of the deeper sections of the two blocks is $192 million.

The blocks are in eastern Sabah state in Borneo.
