NATO chief wants more Pakistan involvement
Australian News.Net Wednesday 19th November, 2008
Admiral Giampaolo Di Paola, the head of the NATO military committee, has told reporters that it is essential to win over the hearts and minds of tribesmen living in the country's lawless border with Afghanistan.
The admiral said if the Taliban were to be defeated, a comprehensive approach would be needed, including engaging with people on the border and having their understanding and support.
Di Paola was speaking after a visit to NATO's headquarters in Brussels by the Pakistani army chief of staff, General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.
Only hours earlier, a missile attack by a pilotless US drone aircraft reportedly killed at least four Islamic militants in north-west Pakistan.
In Brussels, Di Paola said Kayani agreed with NATO that military means alone would not eradicate the Afghan insurgency and Pakistan has long said the US raids are only likely to stoke pro-Taliban feelings among its people.
Kayani vowed to intensify cooperation with NATO and work toward a stable and peaceful Afghanistan.

NATO chief wants more Pakistan involvement
Well Pakistan is fully involved to help Talibans in Afghanistan with their
secret strategy. What if ISI leading the Talibani insurgents in Afghanistan? Mr. Kiyani is the ex-ISI chief and Pakistani Army is infilterating Pashtun soldiers to bleed the NATO forces in Afghanistan. Pakistan is fighting a proxy war in Afghanistan, getting financial help from Saudi Arabia and others.
The Talibani bases in Quetta should be destroyed by American missile
drone attacks. Mulla Omer should be eliminated alongwith his Talibans in Quetta, which can contain insurgency in Helmand and Kandahar Provinces.
