Severe Australian policy led to torture for Chinese man

Australian News.Net
Sunday 15th June, 2008

In Australia, refugee advocates have demanded better protection for people seeking political asylum.

It has been revealed a man on a protection visa, who was forcibly returned to China from Australia, killed himself.

The man was allegedly beaten and tortured when he was sent back to China twelve months ago.

He had told Australian authorities he was at risk because of his involvement with pro-democracy groups in China.

ABC radio in Australia has reported refugee advocates remained in contact with the man on his return to China, but he had lost hope after letters to Australian immigration authorities.

The Council for Civil Liberties says the man was removed from Australia in breach of Australia's obligations under the convention against torture.

Severe Australian policy led to torture for Chinese man

Australia’s treatment of refugees really is very poor indeed. It’s a typical response from china - it’s people have no freedom to voice their opinion - unless of course they apply to the government for permission to protest. We’ll see how the chinese government reacts to the protests caused by parents of the children who were killed in the earthquake due to poorly built schools. Down with the chinese government! Democracy for china.

so it is australia that is bad

and not china that is killing its own people and forcing them to leave. every one that wants asylum will say their life is in danger (govt believe some and dont believe some others)

but the key thing is that we need to focus on the problem (china) and not australia.

China is all about Harmony and No Disruption.

China being a big country with a large population have to quickly nip any unrest in the bud. If this person had lived his life as a good citizen, contributing to the well being of his country and his people, such things wouldn’t have happen. He may be living a good life now. However,he chose the path of creating unrest which may lead to loss of lives and properties, and that is taboo in China. He may have joined the protest group just to gain political asylum in Australia.

One tree does not make a forest

There is a dubious suicde and there are people jumping out to yell foul play. This thing happen everyday in every nation of the world. Only those with an axe to grind will use this as an excuse to demonize the leadership of another nation.
These are typical CIA ploy, first to demoralize the people and their system, using mass media and intenet propadanda, then ganged up to invade. If this is impossible, demand for so call transparency of military spending and free access to spread their propagada, what a joke.

"Appease with me, you'll live, oppose me, you'll die".

Chinese saying: “Appease with me, you’ll live, oppose me, you’ll die”. It is fine and dandy when the ones on top knew all there is to know and have the crystal ball and know-how to lead domestically and internationally without any margin of error. But without feeling the pulse and temperament of the followers, nor securing their devotion, commitment, loyalty and trust, how can one lead well? And if all the followers are all blind, deaf, dumb and mute, how can there be progress when real progress can only come about through collective efforts and joint visions of the masses? The rule “Appease with me, you’ll live, oppose me, you’ll die” works really well for a feudal society that operates in a vacuum, and this is assuming that China wants to stay feudal minded and have maximum control from the top (no different than its emperor days), oblivious to the needs, desires, potentials and intellectual yearnings of its people. There will never be breakthroughs if the attitude is to duplicate, obey, replicate, and not innovate, create, nor challenge when the consequence of suggesting anything different may mean death. This is the feudal minded Beijing Duck policy. It will be a miracle if this is sustainable in a global economy. Besides, human needs do not stop at the physiological level of being well fed like Beijing ducks. The needs of the Chinese in an era of globalization will certainly be drastically different than its old dynasty days. Past strategies of one way top down ruling over the Chinese will no longer work. When the dam breaks and another revolution determine China’s fate as the 5000+ years before it, it will be too late for everyone. Harmony when it is fake, respect when it is out of fear (and therefore fake, produce when it is duplicating and imitating (and not original), can be the silent killers of a nation.
