Locals toasted the pending nuptials of Newcastle’s favourite daughter Jennifer Hawkins and her beau Jake Wall at the Holmesville Hotel yesterday, saying they were happy for the family.Ms Hawkins, who has been called a beach babe, a stunning beauty and even a goddess , is set to become a blushing bride.After seven years together, the former Miss Universe and Jake Wall are engaged.Mr Wall reportedly popped the question on New Year’s Eve with a $200,000 diamond ring at a luxury resort near Byron Bay, where the couple is holidaying.Friend Kendall Wheeler, who was a Knights’ cheerleader with Ms Hawkins, said yesterday that all the former Knights’ girls were elated.‘‘We’re really happy for her,’’ Ms Wheeler said.‘‘It’s excellent.
